As season eleven of the hit reality series “American Idol” gears down, tensions are running high, as each contestant strives to pull off their personal best on each and every performance.
With only eight contestants left, the focus is narrowed just a little bit tighter, and the lights are shining just a little brighter. The room for mistakes is shrinking more and more with each new episode. All the suspense, its garnered some attention from former contestants and the press.
As a contestant eliminated in the top eleven of season ten, Naima Adedapo has the insights that only former contestants can provide. In looking at this year’s top eight, her top four picks include Jessica Sanchez, Colton Dixon, Joshua Ledet and Skylar Laine. She chose an even split of boys and girls. When she named her picks, she went on to mention DeAndre Brackensick, whom she calls her little brother. She said he is growing and that she loves his style, but he has some stiff competition.
Adedapo gave a glowing report of her opinion of Jessica Sanchez. Adedeapo said Sanchez is an amazing performer, with flawless vocals and a sweet personality. She went on to add, that in her opinion, Sanchez should win the entire competition. Adedapo also said she shows her support for her favorites with Tweets and with time, since she got to sit down with Sanchez and Brackensick here recently, just to have fun and spend time with them.
Adedapo went on to say she took DeAndre under her wing. Her protective, encouraging side elicits positive feedback and advice for DeAndre. She’s told him to be confident, and not to take the opinions of others too seriously. She also told him not to read blogs because personal opinions can crush young artists in such a vulnerable position. Other advise included relaxing to just be himself, which she felt like he did in his performance on Wednesday, April 4. This advise could be used by any aspiring singer, trying to get started in his or her singing career.
When asked for a comment on her top four picks, she said Josh is ridiculously talented. For Colton, she said he’s simply an artist, and she loves that about him. She said she felt the same way about Phillip Phillips as she does Colton. Adedapo expounded with the observation that neither Colton and Phillips are afraid to take risks. She also mentioned Elise Testone, saying she has a love for the rasp in Elise’s voice, and that she is also a risk taker.
Naimi Adedapo recently visited American Idol. She was happy to get hugs from Steven Tyler, J Lo and Randy. She said it was like returning to family. If it was like returning to family, her family members must have been very proud of her. Adedapo has successfully launched her singing career with a new contract. Peak Records/One Music signed her earlier this year, in January 2012. The debut album will be released later in the year.
